Is there a safe way to run a mechanical fuel pressure gauge inside the car?

I have one by the fuel rail, just can see it from my seat. During the last ride at the SHOP, it developed a high rpm sputter. I suspect is my current fuel pump not being able to keep up with the fuel pressure needed, but I can't verify that because, well, I can't see the gauge.

What do you other buggy guys do?

Thanks!

Dave

Most would likely argue that a mechanical guage, like what you have, is the most accurate. But you can get electric fuel pressure gauges. The fuel would stay at the engine, and just have a wire running to the guage.

They also make sending units for warning lights. You could leave the mechanical gauge at the engine, and hook up a warning light on the dash that glows below a specific pressure.

Thanks Guys, that's info I was looking for.

I've had isspros ev2's in my dodge since 08. Only had one pressure sending unit go bad since then. If you decide to go electrical I'd check them out. They have great customer service.

My choice would be the electric, if I was going to put one on. Don't like the idea of fuel being fun into the cab. Once saw a hydraulic line bust on steering, his box was right up next to the wheel, burned the heck out of him, would have to see what a spark and fuel would do

Isolator is the way to go for a permanent mount. If it were temporary for testing purposes I'd just mount it to the cage or ductape to the windshield long enough to wail on it a few times then take it all back off. I've done this with my regular fuel pressure tester from work before.

Thanks for the reply's guys!

I'm leaning toward doing just a warning light. When it's bouncing off the rev limiter I likely won't be able to concentrate on looking at a gauge. lol

I looked a fair amount this weekend, but was unable to find a light set-up with a high enough pressure rating. Needing 60+ PSI.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks!

Nitrous Express EFI Fuel Pressure Safety Switches 11720

It's supposed to be a safety switch to deactivate nitrous if the pressure drops. I'm sure you can run it to a light too. Summit even sells shift lights from tachs separate as warning lights, that'll be bright enough you'd never miss it.

The one I posted is a normally open switch. You'd have to use a relay to operate the light since it works backwards than the light is supposed to
