Samurai transmission disassemble

tail piece comes off first, can do that pointed up or on bench then split case in half, top off.

case is easy nothing to shim or adjust just put in new bearings/syncros.

Note: make sure you get Revers and OD piece set on before you drop set the main shaft back in and seal the top 1/2 on. I forget which one it is but you can't slip it back on with the main cluster setting on there.

i have the rebuild kits in stock along with your 30 spline shafts:flipoff2:

I'm gona get the shafts, it's just that the finances are not there yet.

I now think I need an exploded view of this tranny. There are bolts outside the case that must be holding inside parts. It's gotten me nervous. :beer:should fix that worry. What do these bolts do?

pry harder :flipoff2:

I got it apart. There are two shafts. The main, and the "idler" shaft I guess it's called. The idler is one cast piece, gears and all. At this point I think if you screw a gear up, you are better off to get another one. That shaft looks like a 150$ piece. I'm going to get two trans and send the gears from one to get cryoed.

Oh yea... Thanks Braxton
