Okay so right now it looks like im going to be buying clarks sammi.. which means immediately im going to be looking for a few things..

Yj springs
New shocks
Hardtop
and attempt to fix powersteering

so I can prolly get the Yj springs pretty cheap probably around a 100 bucks, got no clue on the hardtop, the powersteering is probably going to be expensive.. and then the shocks, he said it has stock blazer shocks on it now which allow for very little travel, im looking for something with a good bit of travel, any ideas?

they only way to get it just right is to setup up your shock mounts then measure from the low mount to the high. every setup is different. that being said i run rancho 5012( some say they are to rough for a samurai) others i know run dt 3000

the powersteering shouldnt be bad. you can get pumps and everything else at a u pull it yard cheap.

Wont a set up off of an 84 celica work? Seems like thats what a friend of mine used a while back, and It worked perfectly...iirc

somebody go ahead and sponser this kid so he can post up in the tech section rather than having to start a new sammy thread in chit chat every other day

Haha sorry I keep starting them

its not your fault, its just how the board is set up that puts you in a tight spot. either you get blasted for asking for a sponsor too soon and get told to go read the stickies and hang out for a while, or you get blasted for starting too many automotive related questions in gen chit chat.

Actually, come to think of it - that's a pretty good tactic...

alrighr well im not going to start anymore threads here, and i wont ask for a sponsor until I actually get a sammi, which I was hoping was going to be scotts, but looks like ima have to go with clarks ( still a good rig ) and I guess Ill get back at you guys later this weekend

do what you've been doing, you'll pick up a sponsor soon enough.

Live with whatever shocks are on it until you get thru with the rest of the suspension, then do the shocks last.
Visit Zuwharrie.com and do a search for shocks in the "how-to" section and you'll get all the info you need.
Also a good place for info on the rest of your suspension.

As far as which brand..... chevy, ford ... democrat, republican ... po ta to, po tah to .......

I would just stay away from the el cheapo route. Whatever Gabriel gas shock that fits your needed travel. I started out that way, but with a lot of flex in the front, I was buying shocks twice a year.

IMHO - Pro Comp ES1000 are a good oil damped shock that seems to work well for Samis. Remember, these are light rigs. Heavier shocks will rattle your teeth and kill your kidneys.
