throwing the idea around of putting a str8 axle under my dodge havent found anything on that year model. I figured I would see if any of yall have. I want a 2500 but not in the shape to trade so figured id make it one. Guess my biggest concern is steering. What yall think?

I've been toying around with doing my 03 for a while now. I was thinking of running a hp44 so I could run my stock rear axle. You'll need a steering box, I personally like the late 70's ford half ton boxes for the way they mount outside the frame and have a forward facing pitman arm.
I'd probably catch a lot of crap for running half ton axles but my hemi won't pull enough to run tons with big tires and I'm not gonna wheel it anyway. If you run a link front suspension instead of leaves and the steering box outside the frame your drag link would probably be long and flat enough to not need hi-steer as long as you dont want a skyscraper.

I tow a zero turn mower with mine ever day and my rear is starting to leak figure it wont be long and i will be replacing bearings. I have a 14bolt just waiting to go under something. I had a 98 v10 and i think the hemi out pulls it by far just dont have the payload of course. i was thinking a three link with some coil overs maybe 35-37 tires. worried about speed sensor is the speed sensor still in the rear axle on these

I have 35's now with stock gears and mine towed my crawler just fine around the area but getting through the mountains is out of the question. With the right gears and say 37's I still wouldn't want to put my transmission through any steep climbs.
