Here's a good place to start reading....http://www.zr2usa.com/mboard/index.php?showforum=17

Read through the builds in that section for S-10 specific questions and answers.

Just do yourself a favor and spend the next year thinking about it and planning it before you dive in. Ohh, and at least double your estimates.

There's a guy on that board that's also on NC4x4 (ZR2DAVESFA) that fabs/installs SFA's in S-10's.

For a specific answer to your question, I swapped out my steering box for one from a Chevy Astro-Van, made the link material from 1.5" DOM with 1-ton Suburban TRE's and made my Dana 44 hi-steer using mid-70's Full-Size Jeep knuckles milled, drilled and tapped for Sky Manufacturing's hi-steer arms.

lemme reprase the question lol...i will take a look at all that tho......its a 91 box style......im doin it all between me and my buddy so im not plannin on spendin alot.....the majority of it wont be bad cuz im just fabbin everything up....custom buildin it all.......really the only thing i have to figure out is the steering aspect...........nice blazer tho!

Aside from the purchased Sky manufacturing cross-member, this is all home-built, and under a budget to boot.

Have another read through my last line of the previous post...that should round up everything I've got in my steering.

There are ways to make it cheaper, but cheaping out on your steering is ill-advised.

Are you going to be running leaf-springs or link'd? You might get by not needing knuckles and hi-steer altogether if you don't have the leaf packs in the way.

Thanks for the compliment too BTW...it's been a long-time under the knife

Ahhh, enter the expert!

RedneckJeep, meet Dave. Dave has succefully completed something like 11 SAS's on S-10 so far. Maybe Salsbury is close enough to Mocksville to get a lil' help from a nice guy who does great work.

...and no, his rig is not the 1 you see in his avatar.

Thank ya Dave!...I had a few purty one's to emulate!

yea man...mocksvilles like 20 min....doin the speedlimit.....damn i was hopin that was his rig cuz its BA lol.....i might have to do some talkin to him about the steerin maybe get some help etc etc.....i gotta get me a front axle first tho....goin to pulapart next sunday to hopefully get somethin to match my 9in i got for out back....66in wm to wm

I'm pretty sure my Full-Width Dana 44 from a '79 C20 was 67" wms-to-wms. I thought my rear was like 63" though...is that 9" from a van?

Dave can definitely help you out with your swap redneck, even if it's helping to just find parts...shoot him a PM and you'll be glad you did!
