So last weekend I finally got my donor D44 together. Thanks to Andy (Zubz) for the locker, gears and install and to Alex (CarolinaTruggies) for the loaner socket!

Next item before getting the shock hoops and shocks is the steering. What's the best set-up?

I've got flattop knuckles from a chevy, and I've been leaning towards crossover hi-steer arms with Chevy 1-ton TREs. I know the other method is the inverted 'T'/'Y' set-up. How do these two compare?

Since I plan on running Nissan rears up front and 63" chevies in the rear; should I get the recommended tall steering arms as a one piece? spacer + arm? are they really needed for 5+ leaves or is that hi-steer myth?

Any advice, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

TIA,
Brandon

Hows it going. It all depends on axle and steering box location. High steer would be best but if the axle is too far forward the tie rod/drag link will smack each other. You just got to sorta mock it up first to see what you are going to be able to do. My second choice would be to run a flat top on the pass side and run a beefy tie rod in the stock location with rod ends.

Thanks for the pointers Landon. I wanted to go ahead and order the arms so when Moretz and me tackle this thing I can get it out of his shop without having to wait on parts. Might just go ahead and order 'cross over' arms to get the tie rod out of the rocks.

Any ideas on tall arms vs. regular ones?
