Who can teach me about a 4L65

@transman731 you out there?

Common issues?
Hold up well behind and LQ9?

Not a wheeler or a hotrod just a 1 off cruiser.

Any special concerns to run from?

Looked around some more to refresh my memory after we talked...

Heavier duty version of the 60.

Was used in a lot of cars (F body, etc) and the 6.0 engines.

Run with it and use it! You should do just fine with it!

My rule of thumb is if any transmission came behind a certain engine from the factory, it'll more than likely hold up just fine. I'm a huge fan of a 4l80 mostly because of the 32 spline output but its a bear. I'll be using a 4l60 behind this newest LS build mostly for the lower gear and lighter weight.

I don't think it was ever used in an Fbody. Mine was a 4L60E before I swapped it to a 6-spd. Pretty sure they came in the 6.0L trucks that were non-HD like the Denalis. You are right though, it is a stronger version of the 4L60E.

Sounds like a damn good Trans. I maybe looking to use one of those as well.
@rockcity have you found what spline output it has or what tcase came on it?
I'm certain it'll be an electric shift, depending on which one. I've piddled around with the idea of using an electric shift but then again I also have a DSD 241c ready to go in too.

The one I picked up is awd. Full time 4wd.

sorry ron, just saw this. the 4l65e will be just fine. as far as differences between that and the 4l60e, i'm not sure about the hardened shafts and crap like that, i just know it has 5 pinion planets instead of 4 pinion. either way, it's rare when they come in with broke planets (unless it's lack of lube or sungear, sunshell damage causes their failure)

4L60Es/4L65Es, 700R4, and TH350 are 27 spline outputs. 4L80Es are 32 spline as are an NV3500 and NV4500.

@Ron If it's a 4L65E with an AWD transfer case, it likely came from an 03-05 Silverado SS or Trailblazer SS.

Yep its a denali.

Havent bought yet. Concerned about title.
Im striping it but dont need to be a chop shop

Ahh yes. They were also AWD. Same setup as the SS stuff.
