School me on 4runners.

I’m looking to purchase a daily driver and I’ve wanred a 4Runner for quite some time now. I’m looking at a 1997 Toyota 4Runner limited 4x4 with 200k miles on the clock. Guy wants $5,000 out of it. It has the 3.4 liter engine and automatic transmission. I’ve had one other toyota before and that was a regular cab 2002 model Toyota Tacoma with the 2.7 4 cylinder and 5 speed transmission. Thing was a tank. How well do the 4runners hold up? I’ve read great things about the 3.4 liter engine but how’s the transmission?

@TapouT I have a 2001 4Runner 3.4 V6 Limited, 149K and about as clean as a 17 old vehicle can be. It does need a auto trans but i only want $4500 for it. Rebuild/JY transmissions are $750-1000. Going to Craiglist next week but it will be listed in NcC4x4 first.

I agree, I have owned a couple 3rd gens with over 200k on the odometer. Well built trucks imo
