Ok so im new to doing axle swaps and I'm looking to put tons under my Cj. I have a Dana 60 rear and have found a few good deals on a Dana 60 front. My question is which would be better dodge or Chevrolet ? I need a passenger side drop so both would work. The plan is 5:13 gears and an arb locker but like I said I'm just trying to learn as I go. Can anybody throw in some input or 2 cents? Thanks guys

Depending on what Dodge front end you are looking at.......I would go Chevy. Chevy has just about all the better options (king pin, etc.) except High Pinion. Dodge can have some weaker options.

I'd go with a 14 bolt FF in the rear.

I'd run a Chevy...mostly because they're easier to find. The Dodges used an external hub until 88 or so and there's not much you can run besides the old Selectro hubs or a drive slug....unless you swap to a newer style Dodge hub or Chevy hub. They also have different spring spacing. The GM axle already has internal hubs and what not.

Ok thanks guys I'm trying to learn this stuff trying to get both axles so I can drop the jeep at marsfab to link it and build my cage.

Im not sure if all of them are this way but the 2 dodge 60's I've worked with don't have much exposed axle tube on the passenger side for a link mount. I'll have to do a little cutting on the casting. Are you still planning to link the front or have you decided on leaves?

If you are looking at passanger drop 60's they are all kingpin, the housings between Chevy and Dodge are almost identical. For your application, either will work fine.

Chris I want to do a 3 link with a panhard bar and hydro assist

Nope I did decide to just hold off on bringing the jeep down to you until I have all the parts to do it all in one shot do I'm in parts collecting mode right now.
