So my reman Engine is arriving today. I called and talked to the company and they say just to run a break in oil with zinc for 20 minutes with the engine pushing 1800-2200 RPM. There are few different brands of break in oil and different styles. I have tried researching on google and i'm not getting anywhere. The engine is a long block from Promar Precision Engine and it is a 4.0 I6 Jeep Cherokee 2000 engine. Please help i have no clue what to order and i don't to run the wrong stuff any advice would be appreciated.

6 qts of lightweight Rotella and a 090 Mopar filter. Change it after cam break in to the oil of your choice.
Rock on and enjoy your new engine.
When you say lightweight Rotella what weight are you referring to?

The rotella would be fine, also common at parts stores is Valvoline VR1 race oil. It is a high zinc formulation we use a good bit on all our run of the mill flat tappet stuff. If you want to spend more money (very unnecessary in your case) for the real good stuff you can go with Joe Gibbs BR.

zinc = old school flat tappet cams

Not only old school flat tappet motors though. It is helpful in any extreme pressure situation. Anything with high valve spring pressures, large cams with steep ramp rates, any bearings (especially non roller), etc, etc. But zinc is bad for catalytic converters, however that should not be a problem unless you have blow-by problems.

We use Amsoil break in oil. Zinc in traditional dino oils has progressively dropped over the years, 1200+ PPM is what's recommended for flat tappet break in.

Edit...also note 1100+ PPM is what's recommended for phosphorus.

Brad Penn and VR1 types of higher end oil are compatible right out of the bottle, but significantly more expensive than just getting a bottle of break in oil.

Advance has a bottle of break in oil, says 1200+ ppm, 8oz or so.. says high zddp I think.. not too expensive. Cheaper than a cam and lifters for sure.
Lucas makes a break in additive. Advance sells it. 16oz bottle says zddp+ on the label. Ive used it before on new flat tappet cam installs. Brad penn is good if you can find it, my local machine shop sells it when you get work done if you want it.
