I do a lot of cooking, the cookware from walmart only last about a year or so. What do you guys that cook use?

Things I must have;
400* oven temp, *500 would be better
Must be nonstick.
Thicker alumunim
glass lids
prefer a 11 piece set.

Cast iron. Prepped right, non-stick. Will handle just about any temps for cooking. And nothing cooks better. Ask your grandma!

I bought my wife an All-Clad set a few years back. It is still in good shape.

Yep, cast iron. You can't seem to hurt it. Plus you're not eating all that tephlon. We keep a jar of olive oil beside the stove top at all times. You can bake with it as well.

I bought my wife the Rachel ray set for Christmas it works amazing for all of her cooking needs

Sheesh, do any of you fallas cook? You really brought your wives cookware as a gift? Did you get your ass kicked?

Nope that's what she asked for lol she is trained well

All-clad. We replaced our cheap stuff with their stuff and it rocks. We have the d5 series. It will take a beating and last forever. We don't use nonstick from them though, nonstick we buy cheap as you will scratch it and I don't want expensive pans that wear like that. Williams Sonoma even recommended the same thing

Why do you want non stick? I used to also but have since learned to cook on normal all-clad pans and wouldn't have it any other way

Stainless steal, a good cast iron #8. And a Dutch oven. Your set.

A good Dutch oven can serve for damn near anything you want. Fry chicken, boil pasta, cook a roast. And I have yet to find something that sticks to it.

I only have one non-stick pan, and I hardly use it. 80% of what I cook with is cast iron, the rest is stainless clad. And I do all the cooking...she'd set the house on fire trying to toast a bagel.

We've got an Analon Ovation set that has served us well for 4 years and still going strong. I'm guessing we'll get another 4+ years out of them, as the no-stick is still in practically perfect shape, and the exterior is like new on the ones we have handwashed only. The ones we ran through the dishwasher have a lighter hue, but otherwise are in great shape. My wife cooks at least 4 nights a week, plus breakfast and lunch on weekends. Here's a link to the set for reference:

Just get one of these. Self cleaning model with laundry option.

The only problem with cast iron is it can't be washed with soap because it breathe the soap will get in its pores and everything u cook will taste like soap if not done correctly and it should b seasoned after every use for best results and and its heavy, but also best it kept on oven rack so it doesn't get dust on it...same goes with ceramic.....elsewise yep its the best

How much money are you looking to spend? If the budget is up there, you cant go wrong with Le Creuset Cookware. Stuff is the bomb. Pricey for sure, but well worth it.

As for cleaning cast iron, I generally reheat my pans on the stove with some water in it, this will loosen any crap on the pan. Then I scrub it down with some sea salt, or kosher salt and a bit of water. Cleans it right up. Then I put a bit of Crisco on it, and reheat the pan on the stove.

We use Kitchen aid but wouldn't hold up to your standards. Our first set we had about six years and was in good shape but we needed cook ware for the camper so we put it in there and bought another set of kitchenaid for the house.

BTW what do you cook at 500 degrees?

Oh and the trick not get teflan in ur food is to never cook with metal untensils...wood works the best it won't scratch it, doesn't melt and won't burn ur hand when u grab it.....cookware last a lot longer if u use wood vs. Metal

Bawahhhahahaha! Did yours come with the dishwasher option?

I had one, the cooking part broke, I didn't get the dishwasher option was fair at the laundry. I ended up sending it back...

Budget would be under $500

What do I cook in the oven at *500 ? Nothing yet, I'll not be limited though either..

The only limitation is no limitation ~Tao of Jeet kunedo

ah! Jeff want to be the Bruce Lee of cooking! I see!

My Stainless pans were my Aunts. They are probably 20+ years old and still look new. They are Farberware brand and are Aluminum clad of the bottom. If I ever have to/want to get new ones, they would be The same thing but thicker bottom. The tucker the bottom the more even the heat across the pan.

The Dutch Oven is a Color Cast. It's cast iron with a ceramic glaze. Good to 500*+. After using it I really feel its a must have in the kitchen.

My wife loves to cook. She asked for it for Christmas.

I don't cook. I have honestly turned on a stove probably less than 10 times in my life.

We've got an All-Clad 8" brushed stainless fry pan, a Le Creuset french oven or two, a couple of old cast iron fry pans, and an assortment of stainless sauce pots, some of which I think are the Crate & Barrel house brand (pasta pot almost certainly is).

None of it has teflon coatings or rubber handles.
