School me on LED Light Bars

I'm in the market for one 6"-10" light bar, and then either two more the same size or one 30" size. I would really like an amber 6-10" and then the typical white 30". The Amber is going on the bumper, and the 30" up at the top of the windshield. These are going on my Rzr, and then eventually get some for the yj after i test them on the rzr.

Ive searched and searched and not much actually test results worth noting, been on pirate all night, and pretty much the usual advertisements.

What Is everyone running? What brand? White vs Amber? What Brand LEDs, Cree, Luxeon, etc, alot of this carries over from flashlight tech? How many Lumens, Wattage, etc?

The Main vendors Ive looked into: Rigid, Trailworthy Fab, KC , Baja Designs, Totron?

The prices vary greatly, as well as the quality I'm sure. Just wanted to get the ball rolling on a good thread about these, considering there is not much info that I could find.

Thanks

The twf lights are the same china brand that every other cheap vendor is selling, twf does have great customer service and backs the lights though. They are bright lights and relatively "rugged". Rigid and Baja designs are in a different class. In my opinion the light output isn't that much better but they are much higher quality, sealed better, stronger lens, higher grade LED's. As you said, just like the high end/high end knockoff flashlight industry.

Rigid Industries 6" E-series - $299, lumens, amber cover option
Rigid Industries 10" E-Series - $399, lumens, amber cover option
VisionX 8" Xmitter - $469, 5400 lumens, 12-5W Leds
VisionX 9" Reflex - $419, 3600 lumens, 4-11W Leds
Baja Designs 8" Onx - $395, 3600 lumens, 4-11W Leds, Cree XM-L, Amber lens optional, lifetime warranty
2x - Baja Designs 3" Sii -$175, 1800 lumens, 2-11w leds, Cree XM-L, lifetime warranty
Baja Designs 10" - $329, 3500 lumens, 10-4w leds, Cree XP-G, Amber lens optional, lifetime warranty
TWF 6" trail series - $95, lumens, 12-3w leds, epistar
TWF 10" Pro series - $349, lumens, leds, cree
Heretic 10" - $429, 6500 Lumens, 5 - 1300 lumen leds, Amber lens option,

Totron, appears to make both LED lights, and HIDs for a bunch of other companies branding them.

There is way to much for me to explain on here but I've dealt with several light bars. Call me and Ill talk to you about it and that will help you make a decision. If I must do i write up i will but I'm not going to be able to cover everything. 7046845618

Enough said.

A huge thanks to Alex for letting me pick his brain on these. Thanks man. Pm coming to you. I'm going to continue this thread so hopefully we can compile a bunch of info on all these. As time allows I also plan to include hids in this discussion.

So right now I have a Vision-X on the front of my JK and Rigid's on the A Pillar. Both are of very high quality. I have also personally messed around with the Baja Designs and they are also very nice. I have seen a bunch of the knock off brands and I will have to say the Aurora brand is the best. They look identical to the Rigid LED's and use Cree LED's. The build quality also seems to be comparable to the high end brands. If someone was to become vendor here in the states so that warranty wouldn't be an issue I would buy one in a minute. With that said I will be buying a Rigid E-Series for the windshield on my JK shortly. My reasoning is that you just can't beat their warranty.

I was telling Scott about the warranty and the ease of getting something repaired or fixed. Its almost too easy and for that reason we only run Rigid bars now.

When you're about to get the 50" E series call me and let me give you a price. I know I can take $300 off the price with no problem and get the brackets for you as well. We've done several so far.

Pirate does have a great writeup about LEDs. Basically, they bitch and whine about who copied who and why to pay 3x as much for the Rigid or Vision X. Some cheap China lights were tested, some good, some not. TWF ended up getting a lot of the cheap China ones that held up well to tests and now sells them at a fair price, like 1/3 the cost of Rigids and backs them.

TWF lights = 1/3 the cost of Rigid or Vision X for comparable light output but obvious cheaper design, but have held up well to tests.

What I decided after reading like 16 pages of the thread: Buy the cheap TWF lights so I have $$$ left to spend on other items on the buggy... :)

Do you happen to have the mounts in stock? My 50" will be here tomorrow. I hate to say it because I like to shop local but I got the light delivered for $1089 and that included overnight shipping. I think that is about the cheapest I have ever seen the 50" e series. In fact I'm not sure how Amazon can sell them that cheap.

I will be selling my 24" vision-x so that I can replace it with a Rigid 20" so it matches my dually's and soon to have windshield light. I'll keep you in mind when it comes time to price out the 20".

TwF pro series looks to be their version of Rigid E-series? But the TwFs are only ~10% cheaper?? Not much of a bargain really. Being a uneducated consumer, I'd steer towards the Rigids because of the product reputation. The other less popular brands and the knock-offs are not much cheaper either.

I'm in need of some lighting for the race car, but these prices are exorbitant. Has anyone been keeping up with the market? Have prices been consistently this high or are they trending downwards?

Selling that 24" yet? :)

I could be persuaded but it is only a month old so I wouldn't be looking to dump it. I'll send you a PM and go from there. As for the TWF lights they are just about the best knock offs you can get. You can actually take the Rigid bezels and put them on the Aurora brand which is what TWF is selling. I have a set of there Dually D2 knock offs I got for a project and they are physically identical to my Rigids on my JK besides the LED lens which most people will never notice. I'm selling those too as I decided to scrap the project I was going to use them for. Absolutely no need for them with the new 50" bar over the windshield.
