School me on mufflers

Im seriously considereing just getting a basic glass pack. Im also going to replace my tail pipe so it solves having to fix the hangers on mine.

Anyone have any experince with basic glass packs?

Yep. Lots. From civics to trackers to trucks to jeeps.

None compared to tossing those out and going with one of these.

I loved the sound of this one on the Jeep 6. No popping either like with thrush or cherry bomb

Pretty much don't like any of the newer Flowmaster/Borla/Magnaflow/etc type of sound. They are all too "hollow" sounding to me.

I like the old-school Turbo mufflers. Used to be called "California Turbo".

I was running a Thrush glass pack and loved it. It was loud, but not deafining and had some rumble. Got it hung up on a rock, so its straight piped at the moment. It just has a short piece of 2 1/4 pipe with a 45 degree dump to get it out from under the jeep. It sounds good, but is ridiculously loud. Almost painful to pull into my shop. I wouldnt run it like that on a group ride. Ill be putting a glass pack back on it.

Due to "packaging issues" (lack of clearance between frame, driveshaft, exhaust), I went with a chambered glasspack... yes, chambered glasspack, look it up! :flipoff2:
As I read the words "chambered glasspack" right before the ellipsis, I stopped and had to say "chambered glasspack?" to myself, before I finished reading your statement...then I lol'ed. So I did. I'll be damned...that IS a thing!

Got my maganaflow glass pack installed and im extremly satisfied with it. Its not to loud but has a deep tone. Found out why the old one sounded so bad it had lots of cracks and holes in the inner layer

I have one on my Ranger. With the old 302 it had a nice tone. With the newer one with much higher compression, it was way too loud. I added a Jones Exhaust resonator near the tailpipe and now it has a sweet sound again.
Chambered glass packs are a great HD solution most of the time for sure
