I went and looked at a 2000 today. 163k miles 5.3. Motor sounds good. Service 4wd light is on. Seems to shift good but it isn't tagged so I can't drive it to far or get it up to highway speed.
What usually goes wrong with these? Anything I should know before I buy? Thx

Service 4wd will either be encoder motor sensor or most likely the switch on dash is bad. Not much to go wrong with those year models.

Thx. I think I'm gonna pick it up. If it doesn't work out I might just fix/flip it and trade it for a minivan for my baby momma.
I think it'll need three window regulators too.

2000-2006 are pretty solid trucks. At 163k you could be approaching a trans rebuild if it hasn't been into already.

Thx. I'll be sure to pull the pan and change fluids and filter. The owner used it to pull a horse trailer on occasion, but nothing more.
