My wifes Genuine Buddy 50 was put away 2 years ago with no storage prep done at all. Now it's gummed up and wont stay running. Anyone know of a decent shop that will clean the carb close to Mooresville? The few shops I've found online have horrible service reviews.

It's probably cheaper to just buy a new carb, they should be less than $80 or so.

I bet it's your idle jet clogged, that takes them down 90% of the time, easy to clean out, just down ream it out to big like I did the first time, VERY-VERY small hole.

Try calling Sports Car Authority in Matthews 704 847 7742. I messed up the idle jet on my GY6 (common 150cc scooter/gocart engine), they had a huge box full of old carbs and let me have some old jets to clean. I've bought carbs for other stuff like that from them also, plus, they know all the hop up stuff for those little engines. They are kind'a off the beaten path but I've had good experience with them. They build road racing cars in the back sometimes. CALL FIRST to make sure they have what you need, stuff is laying everywhere!

www.partsforscooters.com is a good place to get parts for those little chinese scooters. I was a Parts/Service Manager at a motorcycle repair shop and we got parts from them. Pull the carb and get the idle jet size and order a new one. The GY6 is the 150cc, your 50cc will be a QMB139. The electric choke on those carbs likes to give problems as well, so maybe price one of those as well. Another common issue is the vacuum fuel pump, we replaced lots of those.

Mercury Power Tune from a marine shop.

Get it running a feed it the can as you floor it. Engine will bog, stop spraying, when rpms climb spray more...repeat.

Then load it up heavy and shut off. Wait 5 minutes and start. Rev the piss out of it to clear it out. Them change plug.

I bet a cold one it will run fine.
