i need to know the fitting size(thread pitch) that goes on the rear axle and into the wheel cylinder... thanks in advance guys

you can find this information on www.binderbulletin.org, when it's back up and running. It's currently down for maintenance.

I will tell you that on a scout, the rear hose can be directly swapped for an early 80's ford E250 hose, if that helps.

Don't know off hand. Go to the parts store and ask for a set of wheel cylinders for a 72-80 scout. Chances are, they're off the shelf. Then see what fitting it has.

i orderd all my stuff that was hard to find from scoutparts.com they have about everything!

FYI, scoutparts.com is a total ripoff and their customer service is awful.

If you're going to support an IH shop, I strongly suggest www.IHOnlyNorth.com. These guys are working with Extreme4x4 to build a scout, should be airing in the next few weeks.

This is the longest outage since I've been on the board (~5 yrs). Don't know what's up.

According to a thread on POR, there's been a "blowup" between the site owner and the "staff" (admins/mods)... over the owner pocketing $$ from all the paid subscriptions. The "staff" has jumped ship and are working on another site right now.

Sucks, because I was following Bill H.'s DIY FI section. Luckily, he had the foresight to copy most of his info to other forums!

I saw that post as well. The "staff", i.e. moderators, are going to attempt to preserve all of the technical info, which is invaluable to an IH owner.

That forum is the most comprehensive collection of international harvester information on the web. It'd be a shame to lose it all.

Looks like the site is back up, and the mods are testing the new version. Hope it's working soon, I'm having withdrawals.

On the 79 Scout that I had, everything was standard on the fitings and bolts. There are a couple of tricks I learned in the 3 years I had it. On the front brakes they used ford calipers, you can buy the soft lines for the front for a third the cost of scout lines, and they're about 3 inches longer. I always had problems with the exhaust leaking at the donut gasket. I took one of the body nuts (rectangle bolt plate) and stuck it on top of the flange and used the factory bolt from the bottom. That saved me alot of time tighting them up.

I would take the wheel cylider to the parts house and go to the rack of brake lines.

Good luck.

Chris

binderbulletin.org is now binderplanet.com and it's back up!

line size is 3/16, fitting is 3/8 but I can't find the thread pitch.

I am about 95% sure it is 3/8-NF. Get a 3/8-NF bolt and thread it in "gently" to make sure.
i was able to get the old fitting out of the old wheel cylinder...and i used my tap and die thread gauge and checked the #24 and it fits the threads good...
