I will be tearing down a Wagoneer before too long, removing axles and suspension. I plan to do it on my trailer, so when i'm done I won't have to worry about dragging it onto the trailer to haul off the body and frame, I can just have it lifted off. Do any of you know where there is a scrap yard around Raleigh that could do this type of task?

Yea, like all of them! :)
I use TT&E in Garner. Heard of another right down the road that's good? They all have cranes.
Be SURE to remove the gas tanks and tires. Recycle the radiator and heater core seperately for more money.

Take as much of the plastics & non magnetics off as you can. They 'estimate' what it will weigh and deduct it from your weight, they get the upper hand.

Which scrapyard does this? I want to make sure I don't go there. I'm going to take some stuff to Raleigh area yards since I have moved from Burlington to Apex.

I have been taking stuff to a yard near Danville, VA, and they do not subtract from your weight (I have stood in the office and watched them weigh other people while I was waiting for my money). They just have a price/pound for all automotive scrap, and you get paid for the actual weight you bring in.

I have heard of yards paying a higher rate for "clean" auto scrap that has all that stuff removed, but I did not know some places would do what you mentioned.

tt&e is the best in this area imo. that's where i've always taken larger amounts of steel.

I checked out TT&E... they look pretty good, think i'll take it there. Thanks!
