I have a little bit of metal at a property I am cleaning up. 1, Dryer, 2 washers, tung to a mobil home trailer, 3 pieces of roofing tin, 4 pieces of building siding I think its aluminum but chould be something else as Its painted. 2 old push mowers, swing set and just some other random junk pots pans. Dumps 5 miles away Recycle center is about 25 miles. Is this stuff worth taking? Or take the best 1/2 and junk everything else? I really don't want to have to tear apart the washers and dryers. Any insight would be helpful as I have to get it gone ASAP

you would get more $$$ if you seperated by material, disassemble the appliances, or they get classified as " White goods" and bring a lesser value.

I do it from time to time, will be doing quite a bit more real soon, I have a lot of wheels to get rid of. and other various bit's of scrap.

Last load was couple of axles, various engine peices and other misc. scrap, and a set of worn out forks, about 940lbs, brought me $94, which was more than enough to pay for the fuel to get it there and back home.

asheville is paying $13 per hundred right now

just scrapped a 73 gmc truck .... was rusted to the bone ... was offered 250 from a friend got 550 scrap for it LOL

Also what about Chain link fence? there is prob a 50ft roll of it there also. The property am cleaning up is only right down the street and needs to be done on Wednesday should I just drop the stuff off at my house and take everything apart? are pots and pan all worth keeping? As far as the $13 per 100lbs auto is that gutted of all plastic and tires and stuff?

It's wise to save food cans to scrap now days... Consider time it takes to disassemble compared to extra money. You can earn $8 by pulling a set of pistons out of a motor but I don't work for $8 an hour (or more) when I can gain it in time doing something else. Aches and pains are factored in when you get older as well. Time is ALWAYS a factor when you have 1,000 projects. Work smart and scrap accordingly...

took a load to tt&e yesterday. 1100 in steel, 60 or so in aluminum. walked away with 162 and some change. sheet aluminum was .60/lb, irony aluminum .30/lb or so and steel was .11/lb

can't complain for cleaning out the garage and under the house haha

It takes you an hour to knock 8 pistons out of an engine ? Good point about the tin cans and stuff... I need to start saving more little scrap pieces in buckets/pails..

I'm just a dutiful citizen and put all my cans in the city recycling bin... hm so somebody else can have the $$$...
