Time for some new sunglasses. I've had my current Oakleys for like 8-10 years, but I'm on my 3rd or 4th set of lenses because they scratch so easily. #1 priority is great optical quality, #2 priority is scratch resistance, and #3 is cost. Not too worrried about weight (are glass lenses better for scratch resistance?) and don't really care about style so long as they are not something stupid or too edgy. I'd like to find something around $100, but if a $250 pair is the best thing ever and will last a lot longer then I'm not opposed to that either.

Share your wisdom you stylish SOB's! :huggy::massey::smokin:šŸ˜Ž

I like Costa glass lenses for the same reason.
Oakley polarized have better vision clarity imho. But as stated they scratch or delaminate (in salt water) way too easy.

Costa and Maui Jim have glass lenses. Some Ray Bans, but not all. I have a pair of Maui Jims that are a few years old and still in great shape (in spite of my best efforts).

Yes, delamination is also an issue I've noticed, though I'm assuming it's because scratches are disrupting the continuous coating.

Costa has glass and Polyā€¦have to be careful.
Their poly sucksā€¦like worse than gas station shades sucks

Also oakleys makes glass lenses also but itā€™s usually in very small wire frames that donā€™t look good on fat round faces like mine (and yours)

I vote Costa glass as long as you are not worried about anything flying at your eyes and breaking the lens sending glass in your eye. Like if you fish or work with power tools and think these will be safe.

The optics are spectacularly clear and the warranty/replacement is good. They replaced the entire set of glasses three times for me so far. But the reason they replaced them is the rubber molding on them peels off after time. So find a pair without the rubber molded into the frames, or plan to make use of the warranty.

I love all of my costa.

Im in the same boat. Have had my Oakley's for like 10 years but tired of replacing lenses that scratch easily. I've been looking at wileyx glasses. I think they offer OSHA approved lenses.

I've never spent more than $15 on a pair of anything. I live by the sunglasses code. After a month I just throw them away.
Mine are never scratched, cuz they're always brand new.

I always had cheap sun glasses. $20 pair at most. Loose em, break, whatever and just buy another. But I was given a pair of Maui Jimā€™s 4 years ago and I still wear them today, and have since bought another pair. I canā€™t go back. I highly recommend Maui Jim or Costas with glass lenses.

I've had a pair of Costa Tuna Alley 580G glasses w the green lens for 3 years and I wear them every day. The frames are scratched but glasses are as clear as they were when I bought them, not a scratch or pit anywhere. I clean the lenses in the kitchen sink about twice a week. Turn on the water gently and let it run, squirt some dish soap on the lenses and gently rub them w thumb and fingers under the running water till the soap is gone and dry them w a clean 100% cotton t shirt. I'm gonna buy a pair of Costas w the blue lenses soon.

I will have to 2nd, 3rd 4th or whatever the count is now for Costa, the pair I wear everyday are 8 years old, I literally put them through the paces every single day, I haul mulch, rock gravel whatever you want so they get hammered with dust, fall off wipe them off with my shirttail and even though look scratched put them on and you see no scratches whatsoever, I had a pair before that but I lost those and I also have a newer pair that I havenā€™t let succumb to my everyday abuse yet

That's where it's at.
Back when I wore sunglasses I quit paying more than 10 bucks for them after loosing the second high dollar pair.
I seem to be incredibly bad on them.
Then came the prescription glasses.
The clips-ons are polarized and cheap also .... so ......
But if I were able to wear one pair for any appreciable amount of time it would be polarized, glass, safety rated lenses only.
That's what I wore back in the day.
$$$$$$$$$

Quoted for emphasis. I broke a pair of Revos from getting hit in the eye while weed whacking - busted the poly lens right in two. Wear something rated if you're going to have shit flying at your face.

I am not rough on my sunglasses and have a little collection. I don't know what brand of replacement lenses you guys are using, but I use Revant Optics for all of my replacement lenses. They are much cheaper than replacement lenses from Oakley and to me are better quality. both pairs of my Oakley Holbrooks OEM lenses were just destroyed from whatever and these Revant lenses offer a nice setup.

Im glad Matt stared this thread. Anyone with a wide dome have recommendations. Most Oakleys and others that I have worn give me a headache because they arent wide enough.

I know Oakley has a few models with an XL version that is wider and SPY optics also have some nice styles and they have all seemed to be wider and more flexible/comfortable to me.

I would think that would more model specific, but it does seem like Maui Jim and Costa both make a wider full frame pair.

I would never have chosen this style, but since they were given to me I have really grown to loved the full frame. The pair I bought is very similar. My other pair are my ā€œgoin to townā€ pair, these are my dailyā€™s.

I've got Maui Jim's now. The best lenses I've ever had. Idk, had them 4-5 years now and holding up good. Come to think of it, I probably shouldn't weed eat with them, lol. They were retail $250 but got them for $150 on ebay.

Iā€™ll also add that Iā€™ve sent my Mauiā€™s off to have the lenses replaced once and was blown away by the turn around. I got an email that said they received them, please allow 7-10 days for repair, an hour or so later I got an email saying they were fixed and shipped back out. All in the same day. I think I went without them for 1 week.

The Maui Jim Peahis fit me well, but only because they have spring hinges. I get a bit of fatigue behind the ears after a few hours.
