Anyone have a Sears connection?

I need to buy a few things and I am getting the run around on on pricing.

Looking at a top Top chest Model 59621 Black, priced at $494, the Model 59721 Red/Charcol is priced at $439.
same box, different color, even show the different color combos on the display card with model numbers, but of course, they don't have the Red/Charcol box in stock.

They tell me the red box is on close out and that is why it is so cheap, but it is the same box ( roller glides, drawer count/layout, everything ) only diff is the color.

Offered to buy the Black box for the Red price, was told they couldn't do it.

I really don't care about the color, If the price was right, I'd buy a pink and green box, makes no differance to me, I just don't wanna pay $500 for a tool box when I know the same thing is available cheaper.

I'm just as cheap as the next guy, $60 is $60 and if I don't have to spend it, I ain't gonna.

Anyone got a hookup ? Or does anyone know of a good top chest style box of a decent size available ?

I've already hit up all my tool truck connections looking for used boxes with no luck.

PM me

Kevin

tonka_toy on here is a toolguy / lawn and garder salesman at crabtree valley mall, he can get you what you need I think. I'll let him know

Went thru this a few years back. Call around to other Sears outlets both company and private, and you may find the one you want. In my case they sold me another one at the sale price.

Was that a stock item or did you order it ?

How well do the drawers lock? Do they lock by closing the lid or is there a another locking mech. ?

Your opinion, how do you think the top box would perfom in a mobile environment mounted in a van ?

I was looking at the Crapsman for the grip latch to hold the drawers closed

Harbor Freight has Rich's bottom box on sale for $400 Good price...,

Yeah Waterloo makes damn near every low to mid range tool box there is.

Stocking item.

Yeah, the drawers do have a "detent" to hold them shut while the lid is up, but I just realized you were thinking mobile. I'd have to go griplatch as well. The Lowe's version only latches at one end of the drawer, and feels cheap.

Waterloo's stuff also has something like "posi-latch" on certain series...

Honestly, I think Crapsman is the best price you'll find on something that latches. Go into the store, you can usually get an easy 10% off by bargaining..

Oh.. you can thank me later...
Go in, tell 'em you want it for that price.. ;)

Not the same box, the one I want has full width bottom drawer.

I'ma go to another store today, see what I can come up with.

I don't have to have it immediately, just need it soon.

Dont know what they have currently (haven't searched in a while) but Sears runs a return/blem/closeout company on ebay, got my top/inter/bottom roller combor ther fo $525... because someone got white paint all over the bottom off the box

my dad has two craftsman boxes on a large pull out tray in his bed. they worked great for a couple years keeping the drawers shut (as long as the top lid was closed locking them) but have since started wearing out and some will slide out a bit. not a huge deal to him since they face the bedsides/cap which stops them from coming out any more than a few inches. in an application where the drawers could slide all the way out, it would be.

One thing to keep in mind about a box in a van is weight in the drawers. 50 lbs. in the drawer sitting in the shop is nothing like 50lbs. in the drawer when you go over pot holes. It beats the crap out of the box. I get about 4-5 years out of a box. By then the drawers are shot and the spot welds have had to be rewelded.

Which is exactly why I didn't want to pay a big price for a box, it's gonna get tore up, abused, basically trashed.

I ended up with the CRAPSMAN box Rich linked a few posts back, bought it tonight.

I talked to another Tool Rep today, the dude was smoking Crack !!! Tryin' to sell me on an $1800 "Road Chest"

I got one now, time to load it and figure out how to keep stuff from flyin all over the place.

yeeha

Anyone wanna buy a slightly abused MACsimizer ?
