Seat Recommendations

Three years ago I hurt my lower back (left side) while helping a friend move. The doc told me it was a muscular injury, surgery not necessary or required, but it would probably be a weak spot from then on. He wasn't kidding. Over the past 3 years I've tweaked it approximately 6 times or so and it hurts like hell for 3 to 6 weeks. The old seats in my '01 TJ barely cut the mustard when my back feels good, but when my back is aching they are intolerable.

Anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket seats that provide good lower back & lateral support, yet would provide easy access in a semi-daily driver? Thanks in advance.

Fighting back pain for a few years myself. I don't think you can go wrong with the Mastercraft Baja RS with the lumbar support but they are $$$$$.

I'm cheap so I bought the Sahara seats and added the inflatable Corbeau supports and added heaters while I had the seats apart.

I have the fixed back Corbeau Ultras in the trail rig. I can't sit in them for more than a few hours at a time.

I bought the Mastercraft, mostly for the color, & hoping better quality. I might have been better with the Corbeau made for the CJ/YJ. Many have a problem getting out of the Bolster seats, so I think a flatter seat is better.
There are probably plenty of rigs here, that will let you try their seats, before you buy. I suggest trying a couple styles out, before buying.
I use the roll bar to lift my butt in , but it's harder to get out.

Back issues here, too. If I had the $, I'd go Corbeau. I have the Shittybilt XRC suspension seats. They're actually ok comfort wise, but made poorly (China). I've had to repaint the frames and I had them recovered in marine grade vinyl. I understand the newer iterations are better...

I too have back issues after an injury on an Airborne OP in Ft Bragg. I switched to Corbeau Baja RS Suspension Seats.
No problem using them for a DD, and made a HUGE difference in comfort driving the Jeep. I feel your pain on TJ seats, they are borderline when new, and after a few years of wear and tear are downright painful to sit in.

@broncosbybart , @rodney eppes , @92_SquareEye & @Chris_M - Happy New Year & thanks for your replies. Do you guys run the stock shoulder/lap belt or do you recommend going to a harness? I can see where a harness would be nice to secure you in the seat when wheeling but I can see where it'd be a pain in the ass when you're just running to the grocery store or driving to work.

I have a set of 4 point harnesses that I will be using because I got them with a project rig a while back. I'll probably regret it and have to buy some retractible belts later on. There will be a few switches that I won't be able to reach while strapped in.

Drive the Ram Laramie and turn on the seat heater. Problem solved!!! Are u sure the seats are the problem or is it the 7 ft climb to get into the seats. You need a step ladder on that thing. I carry a 5 gal bucket for my 80 year old dad to climb up to get into mine because he can't manage to swing his leg up high enough and as you know my lift is peanuts compared to yours. Hope you feel better soon bud.

You're right, the COG does need to come down and it will. But the stock seats have absolutely no lumbar support and I can feel it each time I drive ithe jeep, even when my back felt good. I'm looking at all options to make it easier on my back.
