I am redoing my buggy. I've had hard plastic seats in it for years and been very happy with them. At first I thought they would be awefull, but they are comfortable. I've rolled many times and never had a problem.

I thought now would be a good time to go with a better seat and I've had a few comments saying I should. What do you guys think? Is a normal seat going to be as durable? How many choices are there that are 5 point harness capable?

I have the corbeau baja ss and love them. I've sat in most and like the corbeau and the price is right too. They also have a waterproof cover for them that is nice if you don't have a top or whatever.

I had the plastic seats and even the covers for them and switched to the corbeau and like them much better. Granted I don't use them for long periods of time (mostly just while the buggy is in the garage and I make vroom vroom sounds and act like I'm driving :D ) but I've been in both the plastic ones and the corbeau and I can't believe I ever considered using the plastic ones

Two more questions...

Can I get ricer seats from ebay or do they need to be offroad specific? If so what's the difference? Also what is a suspension seat? I'm guessing any seat without a hard bottom.

Suspension seats use strings of subber bands as the "frame" that the pad/seat sits on, so that it absorbs the impact from your ass bouncing on it. Unfortunately they are more expensive.... but.... after doing 2 races in stock seats and then the ECORS w/ a Corbeau suspension seat, it was worth every penny.

The health of your spine is not something to skimp on IMO.

I had the fx turners off ebay they're 100% better than the plastic ones, I've moved upto the baja ultra ss this go around. I'd say after riding in as many buggies as possible that they are 100% better than the tuner seats.
To answer the question on the suspension part is that they are woven to give so they ride better and protect againist spine conpression. I guess the best way to describe would be to say they are like the old folding lawn chairs with the woven bottoms...

Suspension seats cradle you with a series of strings and webbing which soaks up the hits.

Kirky's for sale in this thread.
Cause nothin' feels comfort like a 1/4" of egg crate. Hell, you could probably just weld the axles to the frame...

Ebay ricer seats are as/less comfortable than plastic seats.

If you're a baller get a pair of Mastercraft 3G's.

If budget minded (and not a fat kid) look no further than Corbeau Baja SS's.

I'm putting a new pair of Baja SS's in the race car for next season for what it's worth...

Edit: I wrote this before all those clowns but forgot to hit 'Post'. And Snappy and I must have had different Ebay seats.

The Corbeaus actually comes in 2 different widths, you have to dig a little but the wider ones do exist.

I've got a set of Corbeau Baja SS Wides in my K5, this weekend was the first time I'd been off road in them....fricken awesome! and my bucket seats were in good shape....size wise I'm 6'1" 210....but the wides were offered to me at a dea so I couldn't pass on them....they still fit me very comfy

Make sure the seats come up high enough so that the back of your skull is supported should you slam your head back.. the Baja SS's are way too short for me at 6' and 32" inseam... the ultra's do much better, and have been holding up well for ~4 years, though the driver's seat is starting to come unstitched at the bottom cushion... (Grinding mud into them will do that...)

I have the CR1 corbeau's, really like them, but on my next build I'll be going w/ the Ultras.

Let me know when you decide if you want some corbeau's, you'll get a board discount through us.

I got a pair of those Pbb knock offs. I'm very happy with the quality vs price. They aren't for everyone, I can see a heavier person saying they didn't like em.

Rich, good point on the head rest height.

The most comfortable driver's seat I have ever sat in, even compared to leather seats in a Cadillac, is the Master Craft Baja Rubicon suspension seat. Tubular frame holds up too.
I can driver for hours in this seat and be quite fine.
