What's involved nowadays? I've got a couple I need to sell. Both legit. One I pulled off my vehicle, the other was replaced with a new unit. I've got the receipt and everything for it.

Just go to metal recycler, they will take your license plate # and a copy of drivers license. I think they may even be taking a photo of you now, they didn't when I sold some last summer, but I think I heard they are now.

Yes they do, but people can steal/use other people's IDs, and people change in the years since their drivers license was taken.

The person that told me about having their picture taken said they had them stand behind their truck, so it got their face, their license plate, and the load all in one picture. Could have just been the scrap yard taking extra precaution, I don't know. They didn't do it to me, but like I said, last time I hauled a load was last summer. Although I'm working on another load to take now, so I guess I'll find out in a few weeks.

Thanks. I was afraid there were more hoops to jump through. I had heard of needing the VIN off the vehicle the converter came from. I guess that was just a rumor.

Call matt cutler.....

Im in TN so this probably will have nothin in common w NC but around here they take a your tag # and a brief desc of your truck, and what your bringin it,or if its a vehicle the Vin#,before you unload. Before they pay they get a copy of our DL and your thumb print.
Matt is who gets any I have. He pays more. Most scrap dealers have a generic price

Yeah seems that way here also.I have a buddy who works in a salvage yard and he takes care of all the cores/converters there. He gets a little better price from the core buyers so I take mine to him.I have about six to take right now.

In SC yoi have to get a non-ferrous metal permit. Such a hassle to get too, it's free but you have to set a appointment with the sheriff. Then have them register the vehicle you an to transport the metals in ect. Pain in the nuts

Sent from my garage

By law in NC no one can sell a Catalytic converter unless they are a licensed recycler and the only way they can buy them is to buy the whole car. However if you can find a licensed recyclers that will buy them you can sell them.
