Great job Joe!! We had a good time!! What a turnout!!

I'm looking for places to do this in October. I think the date will be October 18th.

"Charlotte" is is such a large town, it's hard to find a place that works for everyone, can seat a large group and has the space to park all these 4x4s.

I'm thinking we should alternate between somewhere north of town and somehwere south of town??

Maybe Carolina Place? I hate malls but am trying to think of places right off the hwy that offer food/parking.

I thought this past one worked out great. Food and seating to a large group in a timely manner is usually out of the question on a Friday.

I say we do it at MarsFab or local offroad shops around town. We all spend money for offroad stuff so it's a great way to meet the local crews and hopefully offer a way of networking for the shops to help gain new customers. Everyone can throw in $5-10 for general admission for food to be purchased by the host shop (ex. Marsfab) so they are guaranteed to be paid for the food they purchase or whatnot. OR even try to get a food truck vendor instead of doing grilled food. AND it's at a local shop so we can see what is being worked on and be around the gearhead side of things. The plus to MarsFab is he has a monster rock pile to play on and his shop has plenty of parking for lots of rigs and we can do hot dogs and hamburgers or something like that?! It was awesome hanging out at his shop after the meet n greet. I say we do something like that. Chris can chime in if he's down for next month or maybe another shop will want to participate. Maybe that idea is one we can do in a few months if it takes more planning. I know Chris will be pretty busy in the coming months. Just throwing his shop out there because I know him well and he's got the space for quite a few rigs and Harrisburg is conveniently located between Huntersville, Charlotte, Pineville and Lake Norman.

My only critique with the twin peaks venue was the fact that I just wanted to talk to all of the guys about their rigs all night and the way we had to break up into groups for dinner wasn't optimal for getting to know everyone in the group. It was a great event and I had a great time and will definitely try to come to all of them in the future. I am not flaming, I just want to offer suggestions because this type of event could be even bigger and should be a monthly staple! I'd even like to see this turn into a saturday trail run with all the charlotte area guys. Get a big convoy to head to uwharrie for a saturday trail day.

Thoughts?

I spoke to Chris (Marsfab) and he can't accomodate large crowds at his shop. He ran into some issues last time with his neighbors.

I don't think visiting shops is a bad idea, but there aren't that many shops that can host a large group and it's a bunch of time for them to shop, cook, clean up etc. Doing it at a restaurant allows someone else to deal with the food. drink, etc.

If a shop wants to have us, they can coordinate an Open House on a Saturday. I know Carolina Metal Masters did that last year. I went and had a great time.

I was out in the parking lot till at least midnight talking Jeeps. If you see somehting you're interested in, you could do that.

Next time we'll try to find a way to let everyone park together, so when we walk out after dinner, if folks want to continue socializing, they can.

PS I usually feel the same after leaving. Either I didn't get to talk to everyone and/or I didn't get to spend enough time with those I did talk to. I guess that menas, that we'll have to keep doing this. Eventually, you'll get to meet and talk to everyone.

It's also difficult to keep screen names and real names straight. Who's driving what and what's his name on what forum?

Completely agree. That is a great point about names, rigs and screen names. You want to start putting a shot of your rig and name with posts on this thread?

Can we get matching bracelets? ;)

Chris, I discussed it with my daughter and her friend and they said they would love to have matching bracelets with you.
Ya'll could be like the three muskateers!
I'll stick to just a name tag personally.

Cheers,
Eric

That's good Eric. My kids are 13 and 11 and they have been making those rubber bands bracelets. It's all they do. Maybe we get all our kids a (sweat)shop, put them to work and cash in on this 15 minute fad!!

Sounds great.
I'll look for some warehouse space in Concordladesh and CharLanka. Oh, I'll grab a few canes to keep production up too! :D
