If you've never been, make sure you make the trip on day. Its home of the world's largest tree. These giant sequoia trees are freakin huge!!! Sherman Tree is almost 37' diameter, 275' tall with branches that are more than 6' diameter!

Here are some pics of my impromptu trip out there today.

This sequoia is about 20' diameter and years ago was burned out by a forest fire. Its completely hollow and about 100' tall. Believeit or not, its still alive.

Very cool, thank for sharing.

The Sherman Tree! 36.5 feed in diameter, 275' tall. Branches are more than 6' diameter!

Largest tree in the world (by volume) and is about 2,200 years old.

View of Moro Rock from Hanging Rock. Moro Rock is a popular spot for climbers. Its closed for a couple months for seasonal bird nesting, then opens back up for the summer. The face is about 2,000 feet up

View from one of the lookout spots on Moro Rock. Straight down, 2,000 feet. I'm not scared of heights but this made me nervous (mostly I was worried about the wind blowing the phone out of my hand, and the shotty welds on the handrails!)

Tunnel Road, for obvious reasons. This sequoia fell during the depression and was carved out by CCC workers back then. Even after that much time, the tree remains and the road is used everyday.

Trunk from a small sequoia. All the holes and odd shapes are burn scars from over 80 known forest fires in its 2,000 year life.

Yeah, those cones are tiny and the seeds are evenn smaller. It takes like 200,000 seeds to amount to 1 pound.

That place is just cool. Believe it or not, the Park is the least visited park in CA.
