Help SFWDA choose their new association logo. We have narrowed the 190 entries down to 6 final designers based on lots of feedback and our original poll. Now these leading designers tweaked their entries accordingly, please check them out and submit your feedback. Remember that we're looking for your favorite designer here. We can still work with the final winning designer to make it perfect after selecting the winning designer. Thanks for all your feedback and be sure to spread the word to anyone who would like to be involved in what we represent.

@majic2001

It is a crying shame you are going to force a divide in the SFWDA membership over suhc a trivial issue.
I mean not that its haging by a thread right now anyway...

Southern is teetering on sinking on the iceberg and the damn dekc chairs are being aligned straigh as an arrow...only judging by these options they are being aligned using a wet noodle because even the logo choices are majorly flawed.

Im not sure if I am looking at Sierra Club, Green Peace or something to do with the Rocky Mountains.

I am sorry I am a former member, revoked my membership based on my perception of the mishandling of the Tellico situation and had contiplated re joining. The way this branding activity has been handled and specificlaly the way you have chose to interact with those expressing an interest or viewpoint that didnt perfectly co-align with yours has sealed your fate in my eyes.

BTW if you are hell bent on moving forward with this...
Remove the ".org" from all the logos.

sfwda.org is a website. Is this the official logo of the website or of the Association?

SFWDA is the organization. The website is a small part of the Association.

It would be akin to Ford changing their official logo to the Mustang symbol. 5 of your 6 finalists include the ".org" text

In monochromatic it looks like crap, regardless of color it is indistinguishable..and there is the whole stigma of the Confederate Battle flag that you inherit with its use. (This coming from someone with both a battle flag and a "stars and bars" in his game room) As offroaders we have enough of a battles on our plate we don't need to pick up detractors because of a logo.

THIS

Plus - by showing specific states, you are automatically making this appear like an exclusive club... that leaves out Virginia and Maryland... so good luck ever getting support from people in those states or any others.

You want a logo to appeal to as many people as possible, not divide folks.

Every single one of those logos are complete shit. None of those have a southern feel at all. Honestly I see no reason for a logo change. Right now is not the time to be worrying about a logo change there are plenty of other issues at hand that need to be addressed.

no.

The logo I helped create last year was not received very well because it as considered controversial by some and so in the effort of unity and a clear representation of who we are I decided to launch the revival of SFWDA in my small part of rebuilding the website. I felt it necessary to first have a fresh new logo to design this website around and to use this is a way to announce the many changes happening within. The current website has been maintained with piece-meal solutions over it's history and does not work like it could. I hope to complete a new website which is much easier to use and fed with updated relevant information on a regular basis. I am only one person and can only do so much. I know they are looking for more volunteers to step up in the next coming meeting.

#1 - What specifically do they need volunteer wise?
#2 - Is Roger Theurer still a part of the BOD?
#3 - Is Gary Parsons still a part of the BOD?
#4 - Is Jay Bird still a part of the BOD?

Your current website was created by a company that does web design for some of the largest aftermarket automotive perfromance parts manufacturers in the world. The CEO of said company is an avid off roaders, SFWDA member and a personal friend of mine and several others on here. I think your last post reveals a ton.

On the list of issues SFWDA nees to tackle:
The webiste does need a refresh...but its not the top priority.
The logo, the brand trademark for the Association if it needs to be re-designed (I personally feel it is fine as is, but could also support a refresh that was handled appropriately - not this) that should fall around action item 1,745 of importance.

Ouch! :)

FWIW, Walter WAS tasked by the SFWDA BOD with an in depth website redesign that would incorporate the disparate elements of the association (website, event registration, membership renewal/database, association forum, BOD -reps - liaison communications, etc) into one entity.

From your perspective what is the top priority, or two?
Mine are as follows
1. correct CTB as a NC club
2. update the the clubs listed
3. update the closed places to wheel that are listed(tellico and mt city)
4. Remove the save tellico stuff from the store(that ship has sailed)

Add a place to sign up for the news letter....

THE last thing that I have been asked over and over is this as the go between with the forrest service and the clubs is this....Other than URE what areas in the state of North Carolina is Southern able to help protect and help with if a closer comes? What can southern do for North Carolina(seem people think that Tenn, al are getting Way more help than NC is currently).....

- Attempt to re-unite the community.
The Tellico issue is dead and gone...air the laundry. Tell us now what you did, what you knew, what you'd do differently next time. Where our money went.

- Analyze the future of our sport and come to a unified position. IS SFWDA ONLY interested in promoting Federal land projects or are they interested in helping private off road parks as well. (JC, you know my thoughts here. This isnt about an agenda.) Simply tell us WHERE you stand then we can make a decision to support or not.

-Open the books. SFWDA is a non profit. By definition people are always going to be wary of NP and NFPs when they contribute. If everything is above board there is no reason to not publish annual ledgers. If you spent X on Y and you feel confident in that decision you shouldn't be afraid to say so.

- Set Goals we can work towards.
- Market
- Grow
