I have a 94 YJ. put in 4wd one day and will not go
back into 2wd. The shifter will go into the 2wd spot,
but it is still in 4 hi, pull it down one goes into neutral
like it should. pull down one more (where 4 hi should be)
it is in 4 lo.does this sound like a fork prob? or a shifter
slipage (linkcage) problem. scratchin my head ova here.
any one ever run into this. Thanks for taking time to read my post:driver :driver:

Try adjusting the linkage. IF it was there before, I doubt it disappeared. , May also try shifting it in your yard on soft ground, a lot of times they won't shift so well when the tires are on a hard surface.

also the 231's have a tendency to stick in 4hi. shift to 2hi, put it in reverse, and back up several feet, and then drive normal. that should release it from the stuck state.

thanks will try my luck. and I have tried shifting on grass, pavement, mud, you name it lol scratchin my head
 :stupid:

Chech the linkage pivot points, sometimes if you have a lift or body lift or transfercase drop the linkage will pop out of some the spots where its connected to the body. Defintily check that if the shifter feels really loose.
