my wifes '99 Jeep cherokee has a shake in it when you press on the brakes hard or light. It had been doing it lightly for a while but today it got pretty bad on the way home. It feels like its coming from the left front. I pulled the tire off and all seems in good order. I just replaced the hub bearing about 2 months and the brakes and rotors when we bought it in March. ANY IDEAS shes got to drive this thing to Charlotte in the morning. Please Help!!!

Check the Tie rod ends, and Control Arm Bushings. Specifically the bushing on the Axle end of the driver side upper Control Arm. Oil is notorious for getting to that rubber bushing and deteriorating it.

Checked it.... no oil in bushing and TRE looks and feels tight .... Anything else? Ima rotate out the front tire and see if it was unbalanced...

if your wife likes the brake pedal, you probably need to have the rotors turned.

I ignored the rotors since he said he replaced them already, but now I see you said it was in March. Brake Rotors would be my vote now that I reread your post.

Rotors. All my vehicles, including my XJ, don't pulse the pedal when the rotors are warped. My dodge warps rotors on a bi-monthly basis.

Sorry I didnt get back sooner... Ima say its prob warped rotors too... I checkd everything else and rotated the tires last night. Still doing it. Can you turn a warped rotor or does it need to be replaced all together? We live in the mountains and she drives off the mountain alot. Prob got heated going down. Thanks for the help guys!!:beer:

You can have it turned, but I've always heard that once it warps, it's more apt to warp again than a new rotor. With that said, I think it's $5 for the parts store to turn your rotor, vs. $30 for a replacement.

tell your wife to stop tailgating and stomping her brakes :D, My '99 WJ has warped rotors just like yours, and surprise... It was under my wifes "care" when they got warped.

Robbie, I'd personally replace them. I dislike turning rotors because by removing metal from them, you reduce their ability to disipate heat, thereby causing more warpage. Just my 2 cents. Had that problem on a Ford Taurus once.

LOL yeah she drives like a granny. I always drive when we go places b/c it really gets too me... Just didnt think these rotors would go that quick. Mabey when we get moved off this mtn permenantly Ill invest in an upgraded rotor, something vented....

yeah I got em at Vatozone.... thinkin I got a warranty on em. May have to look into that..... Yep got a 2 yr replacement on them now if Autozone will back it...
