A few years back, I had to ship an engine to an ebay buyer, and he sent it by rail SUPER cheap (like $120 from Fla to Illinois in 3 days). I'm looking at shipping a lawn tractor fro NJ to Asheville (don't ask why), and I was wondering if anyone can tell me where I should go to get a quote.

I just used ESTES (http://www.estes-express.com/) to ship my transaxle from Fl. I've used Forward Air in the past but this place was pretty cool. The part I liked is I could pick my stuff up anytime up until 11pm..

Forward Air doesn't have as many terminals
I've also used SouthEastern they were ok..
Luckily the East coast has a ton of freight shippers..

I had to ship a pallet from Massachusetts to NC for work and used ESTES. They loaded it on the truck friday afternoon and it arrived yesterday afternoon. It was cheap too.
