Sirens woke us a 1:17am. This is on a small two-lane road in the country, where nothing of the kind ever happens:

4/10s of a mile up the road. We knew the shooter - he was a great neighbor. Always offering to lend a hand. Always waving so enthusiastically that you thought he was going to hurt himself. Always so happy to see you when you bumped into him at the store, he made you feel like seeing you was the best thing that had happened to him all day. Wish we knew what caused all of this to happen.
And then, I tried to go home for lunch. This was less than a half a mile from work:

Didn't know the motorcyclist. The bike was picked up by the wrecker at our dealership. I got to look at it soon after. Fork tubes were sheared off at the lower clamp. Handlebars were rotated up and forward, gauges smashed. Bits and pieces of the rider here and there, many spots of blood. Not a good sight. One co-worker walked inside and put his Suzuki up for sale on the internet.
Hug your loved ones tonight, tell them how much they mean to you. I hope tomorrow is a better day.
