Shock Mounts

Could this work better for welding on shock mounts? It appears that it would be less likely to break since it is kinda wrapped around the axle tube. Just looking for opinions and pros/cons.

That could certainly work......

But if you notice it is already bent. Better to use a stronger piece of material to begin with. Not completely seeing the profile I can't be sure but it looks very thin.
 
I'm not seeing a benefit, really. Is there a reason you're unhappy with a standard 2-tab mount, or a pressed 1-piece in a u-shape?

And yeah, that pictured one looks thin, but that's obviously not a really heavy duty axle.
 
yeah, it's bent in the shape of the axle tube. that is actually on a JD Gator 6x4. it appears to be 1/8" plate? I'm just thinking the design would be better/stronger for a fullsize vehicle?

Good luck finding that much room to work with on the diff side of the ft axle with leaf springs.

Why reinvent the wheel? Tabs have Always worked fine.
