i am puttin a soa lift on my 87 yj, what length shocks and stabalizer shocks do i need?

I took the completely unscientific route, I measured the complete amount of lift I was adding,ie: spring pack+perches+axle tube and then looked in a Quadratec catalog for shocks that matched that lift. Worked pretty good for me, 2 1/2 years on a SOA, been to Uwharrie and streched the hell outta everything and no probs...if I remember correctly I figured I was adding 6.5"

Are you going to do the SOA using 4.5" lift springs? If you do that is going to a lot of lift for YJ. I pretty sure you'll end up with close to 10" of lift from stock. I did an SOA on CJ using stock YJ springs and got close to 6" of lift.

You might want to consider going with a little less spring for safety purposes. Especially if you plan to do much wheeling with it.
