Shocks just came, Should I run Inverted??

I would like to run my new rear Bilstein 5100,s inverted if that will let me get rid of my shock

extenders. If not it does not matter to me. What I need to know is, if the rod of the shock does not

hit the axle or spring perch sitting still does that mean it will not hit on the trail?

would not the axle have to rotate for it to hit? Thanks for any experienced info.

Not sure what your asking but if u have extenders and didnt get longer shocks then yes you will still have to run them. And you can run the inverted if you want to they are gas shocks.

what I am asking is will the space between the shock rod and the axle change when flexing on the trail. Can the axle hit the Rod. Also my shocks are a little to long with the extenders.
 
Did you purchase shocks for a lifted rig or stock rig?

If you got the shocks for a lifted rig then you don't need the extensions as they will be too long.

I have seen the 5100 run both ways
 
My rig is a TJ on 35s with long arms, 5" lift, 5100s for long arms and I run my rears inverted with extensions. They still scrape barely on the trail.

I bought the three inch lift shocks to replace the 3 inch Twin Tube Teraflex shocks I am running now whitch are a little long

but I can not invert the Hydro,s. I wont to get rid of the extenders but not at the expense of my new shocks hitting the

axle tube. If the new shocks installed inverted without the extensions clear sitting still what do I need to do to make sure

they clear on the trail. Flex it out?? I can lower my bump stops and leave the extensions in if I have to. Thanks for your

Ok I think I reference what your talking about and no they shouldn't hit the axle tube and if they do your short arm bushings a really worn out. Mount them and flex it out in the yard.. on a stump... fork lift what ever u got and check it. You should be fine. If it rotates enough to get into the shock you got problems.

If you 3" of lift you might squeak by with a trim. I know with 5",extensions, and inverted 5100s, I still barely hit the lip of the perch. There is not must you can trim before you get to the spring. The best solution to this problem is to move the rear shocks to an outer position in the frame and top of the axle tube. I have not done this yet but need to. The bad side effect of running the lower shock mount extension is that they hang so low. I drag mine on rocks on a regular basis. It's a small miracle I have not torn one off the axle tube yet.
