What kinds of shocks out there allow for a decient selection of valving vs just buying for a specific application ?

Anyone have any manufacture specs available ?

Are the rancho 9000 type adjustable ones any good ?

thanks

I like my 9000s.
They help keep the body roll inherent to a 35 year old SOA on stock springs in check.

Buy some 7100s. Valve them however you want.

i run the 9000's on 6 helps keep the body still & the springs working a little slower

I ran RS9000's on my TJ and there was no setting that I was really happy or sad with. Changing didn't seem to make much difference. Then I put on some Old Man Emu's and the ride was eleventy times better. Have had the OME's for 4+ years now and they are still going strong.

Add another happy 9000 (ab)user to the mix. The last ride was actually FUN because I didn't start pissin' blood the next day! (yeah, it used to ride that bad)

I leave the rears on 3 (1/2 way on mine = old 6 position models). The fronts go to 1-2 offroad (very cushy) and 6 onroad (no need for a sway bar).

Second best $30 I ever spent on the pig! (1st being the new MC)

I had RS9000s on my old Runner, even ran them upside down <GASP!!> in the rear, never had an issue with them, rode them on 3 most of the time, played around with them a bit, 3 seems to be a good compramise of on road handling and off road ride.

The most fun part was all the folks that told me I couldn't run them upside down.....

Not sure if they just upset I didn't ask permission, or that it was just passe

Any high pressure gas shock (Bilstein, new Edelbrock IAS, etc..) are going to be better than those Rancho POS's.

The 5125 Bilsteins have different valving you can pick from if you don't want to drop the coin on the 7100's.

Oh, Poly performance's BBCS shocks are well reviewed as well.

i ran the rancho 9000's on my jeep for awhile and at any setting they were way to stiff, even at the softest they would still jar you hard. i just upgraded to the re high pressure monotubes. i'm loving them so far

I'm running doetsch tech 3000s... probably not the best shock out there but I really like them, they use a cellular foam which dampens rather than pushing out like a high pressure nitrogen. Long story short, they flex quickly and are soft.

i've got douche tech's up front and pro comp es3000's in back....

they're ok... but suck horribly compared to the bilstein's....

-Erik <--- saving for 7100's
