Looking for idea's on shocks for my new to me build.
Matt had run , in his words, the longest BDS shock that Tar hill 4WD had.
Only 500 trail miles and they were toast.
So I am looking for ideas for a shock, nothing expensive, just something to dampen the ride a bit. Don't want to sink a lot into them because the next venture is going to be ORI's( I can dream) or some type of air shock when I do the links(down the road, probably in 2012
so, ideas???

Even with your leafs I would still consider air shocks. With proper tuning you can use the leafs to hold most of the load and use the air shocks to boost that as well as handle shock duty. I was actually impressed how well that setup works on the few I've seen doing that. Plus you will maintain some resale value down the road vs a typical used shock that has little value.

AND the biggest advantage IMHO is tuning it to your liking.. Which is not always possible with a standard mix/match shock swapping in the lengths you may need.

There was a post about someone here in NC potentially offering that service.

I am running ProComp on the front of mine. I have not had any issues out of them and they are reasonably priced.

rancho came out with new shock that is same as bilsteins's 5150, but half the price. rides has been putting them on all their customers rides.

yeah I'm curious on the model for that too, the only Rancho I see w/ reservoir is the R9000x, which is alot more and fancier than a 5150.
