I have a motor that I don't know to wire up. The motor on my bandsaw took a crap and I want to replace it with this one.

A.O. Smith
S# C48A01A19
SER 2F96
Type C
120/220

It has 8 wires coming out of it:
RED
WHITE
BLUE
ORANGE
YELLOW
PURPLE
BROWN
BLACK

It also has two capacitors of equal size.

Any ideas?

there should be a wiring diagram on the side of the motor or on the inside of the motor junctionbox cover. you could also take the information off the motor and put into the form here

no junction box cover and no wiring diagram. i have already tried that form. didn't work. i did get it to run, but it only runs one way. the wrong way.

I'm not sure about the motor you have but some ac motors can not be reversed by swapping wires, if that's the case look at the brush holder plate and see if it has different locating holes for the mounting screws, moving the brush plate will reverse rotation, some even have alignment marks that tell you where to set it to get the direction you want.

Are the blue orange purple and yellow hooked together in some order? The black red white and brown are for your incoming power. The brown goes to your capacitors, dont move that one yet.
