"Side by Side" rules at UNF..... (not typical 4-wheeler)

According to the rules posted on the website about UNF they specifically give the definition of an ATV as being straddled, steering with handle bars and being under 60 inches in width.

So, my question is "Do you have to wear a helment"? It's under 60 inches in width, but the other parts of the definition do not fit.

I'm more or less asking this question for a friend. He has a John Deere Gator XUV with a cage and seat belts.


It basically like a buggy with a cage and seat belts..... and buggies don't have to wear helments.

I'd say if it has warning stickers on it that say "wear helmets" than they could prob. get ya. My rhino HAD those labels.

Its illegal in nc to operate a atv without a helmet im pretty sure....but the side by sides I think are classified as utv's...

side by sides do not need a helmet according to the cop I talked to at busco beach

Thanks........ I guess my question has been answered. We will be there this weekend. My brother will not be wearing a helment, but his kid riding with him will..... He isn't gonna be acting like an ass anyway with his boy in it with him.
