OK quick question.
And yes I know this sounds stupid but I don't want to screw something up.

We're at Mom's house until tomorrow morning. Dad is having a garage built. In a few mins they are showing up to poor the concrete slab.

It would be cool to let the kids sign it. When is the best time to do it?

While its wet!!! Duh

Thanks jackass...

Yes hand prints are the plan. Probably last name + the kids' hands.
But what is the good window? 60 mins? 90 mins? 3 hrs?
My total knowledge of concrete is that it is hard and hurts when you fall on it, but cracks if hit too hard. Oh and the mixer trucks look cool but man must suck to clean out...

Unless you are finishing it yourself, there's usually a guy or two with brooms that put some "tread" into the concrete. I would tell those guys your plan and they will let you know when. Depending on how "wet" the mix is, will determine the time frame. You are probably looking at less then 60 minutes from the time the truck stops dumping.

Well... disappointment.

Apparently today all they did was pour the footers. It wasn't until they had the mixer here pouring it in, I realized there weren't any forms set up for the actual slab yet. Duh! So anything we wrote in it tonight will just be covered up later (facepalm). We're leaving tomorrow morning, so... chance missed.
Sigh.

Guess I'll have to wait until I build my own garage!

Tea bag it!

Also @snappy that's what she said!
