My rear D35 is goin out and I have a "new" one to replace it for now, until I save up more $$ to upgrade...

Does anyone know of a site/post that goes through the simple swap? I just want to make sure I have everything I need to complete this job before I tear into it... Obviously I am new with axle swaps, searched "how to" stuff but haven't really found much...

Thanks,

Are you just removing a D35 and replacing it with another D35 from the same type vehicle?

If so, a decent set of tools and some jackstands and you should be good to go. You will need to bleed the brakes when you're done.

thanx

Yea I just wanted to make sure that I did not need to compress the springs or anything like that... I figured it was easy enough if you can turn a wrench...

Thanx,

Disconnect the rear trac bar, shocks, driveshaft, brake lines, jack it up, the springs won't need to be compressed, slip the springs out and disconnect the rear control arms. Roll the rear end out and repeat in reverse order.

Also make sure it is stable if its a TJ. You have to raise it very high to do this and most stands will not reach.....be careful

CJ's have to be high enough that they become unstable as well. I found out the hard way.

My bit of advice is to make sure you disconnect the track bar while it is on the ground sitting on its tires. It will make it much easier to remove the bolt. Otherwise, what bigwoody said.

what gear ratio do you need i have one with 10k miles i will get rid of cheap. Mine has 3.07 gears
