sister in law jus picked this up few weeks ago, i had never really payed these cars much attention until she bought it.. never really been into them, i love american muscle. BUT this thing downright cooks... never ridden in a rocket like this thing, it is stuck to the road, on rails in turns and screams... oh and its just an inline 6, no turbo/ no supercharger.. but damn, holy sht, talk about pucker you up in turns then sit you back in the seat:smokin:

all stock except i think remus catback exhaust and a Gruppem intake

that thing is sweet!
i drove an older one that was a convertible, and it was nice.
Just seen a brand new M6 this weekend in carolina beach, now that thing was BAD ASSSSSSSS!

Bad ass man. I have a thing for the M cars, especially the M6. Crown BMW in Greensboro had a black M6 in at one point... that thing was beautiful.

Looks nice, but the maintenance costs can really suck if things break.

Fun cars though, and a quality no american car has ever touched.

you need to come work with me a week and you might change your tune....
He didn't exactly say that "quality no American car has ever touched" was a good or bad thing.
I mean, it could be his opinion is so bad, that no American car has ever been built that poorly?
:D

(expects to be flipped off by two people?)

But anyway, nice car. They are a blast to drive, until the speeding tickets start.

One of my friends has like a 98 3 series. Apparently when they hit over 200k, they die. Hes spent more money fixing the damn thing, then what he paid for it..

Everyone TOLD him when you trade in a car (he had like an 01 tacoma) your NOT supposed to get paid for it.

When that body style M car came out, and I drove it, I thought to my self. "I NEED one of these." Then I cam back to my sences and though, "Yea, I'd last 2 hours before they through me in jail." The really fun version is the SMG. Makes you sound like a race car driver when you down shift and it blips the throttle! Nice ride for sure!

what is SMG... cause it has the computer controlled 6-speed... you can change the rate of shift/ hardness of shift, has the cool little pattles on the steering wheel... the transmission blows my mind, its not an auto, its a straight drive that is computer controlled, it makes you look like you know exactly what your doing, lol... and yeah at downshifts it pre-revs the motor to the exact rpm so there is no jerk

Worked on plenty of old ones during my years in Germany mostly 80's models, in the mid 90's (not to mention the several 3 & 5 series I owned), and yeah, they have some funky ass shit like those damn rubber driveshaft donuts, but I meant how solid everything is, how tight the car stays after thousands of miles, and how good the engines look after 20 years of high-rpm use.

That said, I wouldn't own one here... parts cost too much.

Been there done that.
Guess I got the bad one.
My wife had an 01 that spent 45+ days in the shop in the first 80 of ownership. RH finally offered to replace it with a new one, she declined and they actually refunded our money, in full.
So despite the crap luck they made it as right as possible I suppose.

But Ill never own another one

My 02...

Great cars..to "three-year-lease" then give back!

Wife and I leased a new 5 series in 1992. Stick car. I ran the &#% out of it! What a fun 4 door rocket!

But loose em before they get old and hungry!

Yeah

Ha ha ha. Did the BMW thing for a while. I now drive a Honda and enjoy not working on it. It's amazing how the Germans can make things so "high quality", but yet they keep breaking. At least most American parts are cheap.

Lotsa things to love about BMWs. 1st Gen M3 is pretty much on the top of my wish list.

American engineering and manufacturing is just as good perhaps even better than the Germans.

she's got good taste...is she single?
