Situation has me wondering....

yeah and all the gun hating asses around you will secretly be glad you got fired for shooting that little poor little unstable girl with the Uzi:uzi:that slipped by the security officer who did'nt take her serious

Flip that coin around... Someone sees your concealed at work. No threat No danger. Your fired on the spot. And if its posted no firearm you'll loose your CCW permit. But hey... if you're prepared for the consequences of your actions, break whatever laws/policies you want.

I wish there were consequences about using the word "loose" in the wrong context.

If someone sees me concealing at work then I've done something wrong and I deserve the consequences.

This is all so pie in the sky anyway. It's never going to happen. You'd have to have several 1 in a million ifs come true to justify this discussion.

I think of it like this. While you can do your best to conceal, there are a number of random freak ways somebody could find out.
The probability is extremely low.... but (I'm guessing) if you work someplace that CCW is prohibited, the probability of actually needing the weapon is much, much lower than somebody finding out you have it.
Personally I wouldn't play those odds w/ my job or CCW.

(but then again I work in a protected facility where all firearms are prohibited as a federal offense and a state where a CCW isn't an option)

If I genuinely feared for my life at work, I'd just work from home that day. This whole arguement is pretty dumb.

I'm still new at this, so forgive my ignorance. If they "see" your concealed carry firearm, it's no longer concealed and in fact "open" is it not? I thought that open carry was allowed in NC without a permit. I really need to take a class.

believe me...I wouldnt waste paint painting a picture for you. nothing to paint.
Just has me curious because....you see all these people who are mentally unstable shooting up schools, navy yards, etc....you never know...

Name all the female mass murderers.

You're fine.

And how did that work out this week in Va?

Sent while I should have been doing something constructive...

My big brother works on the base and on the 5th floor of the building that the recent northern VA shooting took place. He is a civie and can't carry, he wishes he could right now. He was not in the building during the shootings thank God!

its not a question of what is allowed in NC, it's a question of what the company policy is.
If a company has a policy of "You're fired if you bring a gun onto our premises", and you violate that policy then you are gambling your job.

If the company doesn't expressly prohibit firearms, (and you aren't in Chapel Hill where they have different municipal ordinances), it shouldn't be an issue, should it?

Like I said, I'm new to this. What caught my attention was not long ago (before I even thought about owning a handgun or looking into the idea) driving around town and passing a pawn shop where one of the staff was moving some stuff around outside with a RATHER LARGE handgun strapped to her hip outside. I remarked to my wife about it and she said that it was perfectly legal since it's open carry. In fact, she said if she was working at a pawn shop, she probably would open carry as well.
