I have a t/c lowering kit on my yj that has seen better days. I am going to have to redo the stock system because the original setup is fawked. Is there a aftermarket kit that would work better or should I just make a custom skid plate and t/c mount?

Yes there are after market kits (Skid-Row, Tera Flex, Skyjacker, etc...) available but if you have the skill, space/tools and time make your own. Most after market kits will reuse the stock tranny mount. The only skid I've seen that comes with a new mount is the Nth degree, now owned by AEV-conversions, but it's over $500 for the skid and the tranny mount. I have one and it is the beef but I got mine much cheaper before AEV took over. They may sell you their tranny mount and you could fab the rest, Nth degree used too. Also consider if you go with a low profile skid you may need a SYE, body lift or motor lift/spacer if not already installed.
