Sleeping on 4" mattress topper???

Has anyone tried sleeping on a 4" mattress topper without an actual mattress underneath? I have a sleeping platform I'm debating trying this on. I figure it can't be any worse than a backpacking sleeping pad eh?

That's about the same thing that my camper has in the slide out... Get a memory foam one and be done.

Cant be any worse than a pillow top air matress.

We throw one down on the floor for guests or carry it with us when we visit family. It's not bad at all, but not as quite as comfortable as a real mattress. I'm 200 lbs and can still feel the floor if i sleep on my side. Front or back sleeping is good though. We used to do the same thing with a futon mattress and the foam topper is definately more comfortable.

The thing I hate about foam toppers is they make me hot and sweat.
