Finally got another ride in here in California. This trail is Slick Rock. We camped out two nights and had a great time with the MadHatters 4x4 Club. This first set of pictures is from the namesake rock. (the rocks are big here!). After the pics is a short video going up. As is always the case it is hard to appreciate how steep it is in pictures and videos. Towards the beginning you will note a short slip. I went up without any lockers. This what they call The Stairs. We did not have enough time to go back up them, but we did watch a few vehicles go up. Click on thumbnail for full size pic.

I had an interesting problem with my Sway Bar. I have a Rubicon with the Electric disconnect. At this particular obstacle I flexed enough that the Sway Bar over extended. Fortunately our spotter noticed it immediately and stopped me from doing damage to either my tire or sway bar. I was lucky to be riding with a great club for they help I got and lucky that I also had manual quick disconnects as we were able to get me back moving in just a few minutes. You may note some rock rash on the diff cover. Yes, earlier in the day I misjudged and kissed a rock pretty hard, fortunately the Solid Diff cover just bounced of the rock. Finally at the end of the trail, we aired back up and a few of us drove a little down a paved road to what I guess was a fire road and climbed like crazy up a ridge for some spectacular views. Our campground was way off in the distance. Notice on the GPS there are no roads shown and we are at 8,604 feet elevation. Click on thumbnail for full size pic.

Great pics! So cool to see the Jeep in action out there. Nothing around here compares to that.

Your thinking of not coming back to NC now huh! Outstanding wheeling right there, once you get that first dose of west coast wheeling it is very addictive.

Makes me miss the Sierras.

Great photos. Have you gotten to run the Rubicon or Dusy yet?

I have not YET. I was going a few months ago with the local club but had to fly home for a funeral. Rescheduled a few weeks ago but Rubicon was closed due to a fire (second largest in California's history). I really will try before I come back to NC next year. Soon it will be snowing there.
