So a few years ago I copied a NAXJA friends design for a traction bar. Sits on top of the third member of the rear axle. Recently it failed. Broke right were the mount stops.
I have some theories on what caused the fail. The rear bolt was missing and the front two were very loose. I think the tube was flexing where it broke. I'm going to be rebuilding this and hopefully adding strength. The tube is 2" .25 square and the round shaft is about 1.5" solid. So the round moves in the tube. The round is also about the same length of the square. To me there is too much play but I don't have the lathe to turn down something that would fit perfect. My thinking is to weld a piece of angle the length of the square so it's pointing up. That should give it more rigidity. More pictures will follow as I rebuild it.
