Slipping out of 5th gear

ok i have a 2003 tj with the nv3550 transmission and it keep slipping out of 5th gear. i looked on jeepforum, and someone said it was a bad "snap-ring"....does this sound right? how difficult is it to fix? i have the tools available to drop the transmission since i replaced the clutch.

sounds like it inside the trans. this type of work should be done by someone who has been inside that particular trans. it is possible to hurt the trans. I do not have info on the snap ring you speak of. I hope this helps.
