sm465 4th gear noise..

iam running a sm465 with a 203/205 doubler. and once it get into 4th gear and start to coast i get a noise, but it sounds like something isnt completely disengaged. i tried it in 4 wheel high but i get the same sound. i can down shift to 3rd and it quits. guess it could be a bearing inside the trans... any direction here?

iam running 80w90 and today i dumped in some lucas. didnt change much.

If it's 4th only, I would say the input bearing is bad

i put the transfer cases in neutral and it does not do it, but i guess it needs a load on it.

well i been reading... i do not have a cv style drive shaft for the rear. angle may be to harsh at the transfer case. . guess ill remove the rear shaft and drive it to see how it goes

I had a cj that did the same thing when coasting in high gear, dropped the t-case to lessen the driveshaft angle and it quit.

well it looks like ill have to shell out some major coin for a real drive shaft. there is no dropping dowm my transfer case lol
