I'm in the market for a smart phone (never had one) and was wondering if anyone on here had the new Casio Commando. If so, do you like it? If not, what smart phone do you recommend. I have the Casio Boulder and love it but didn't know if the Commando is built as tough.

My wife works for version call her she will hook you up 336-9063040 but they are tough we had one at the beach playing Pandora radio under water in the pool it was cool

Thanks for the info...glad to hear some positive feedback. The reviews are all over the place for the Commando. I figure a lot of people will suggest the iPhone but I'm afraid if I go with it I will never use my $300 touch which I'm using now.

I've got the Commando now. I had a Droid Incredible in an otterbox. Was a bit bulky and the box was a PITA sometimes. Finally the belt clip broke so I took it out and broke the screen 2 days later. The Commando is a bit slower than most droids (800mhz processer as opposed to 1ghz or more) that are out but it works fine for me and easily makes up for lack in speed with durability. I tossed mine in the hot tub for 20 minutes, have dropped it numerous times on concrete and sat on it without a hiccup. I don't think I'll ever own a "non rugged" phone again. When it gets greasy from answering the phone while working on the Jeep I just wash it up with some dawn and it's good to go.

I'm very curious about this phone also. And for those that have an iPhone there's a case that makes them fairly bullet proof here --> http://www.lifeproof.com/

stone has a commander and he likes it... for my money i would get a bionic... i have a x now and u cant kill it

i have had the commando for about 3 months now..... i love it. out during the hurricane taking video, dropped it in a foot of water, picked it up still recording, took video of my daughter in the pool, i have dropped it MANY times, pretty good phone. speakers on it are pretty good for listening to music. all that abuse and not a scratch on it yet..... only thing i found i don't care for is the camera..... if you don't hold perfectly still it will get blurry..... other than that i love it.

I got one a few months ago, love mine so far! I read alot of negative reviews about the touch screen and slow processor, but I haven't had a complaint yet. If I had to gripe about something it would be the ton of "bloatware" that is pre-installed. It's pretty tough, I've dropped it, kicked it, and gotten it wet and it's still going. Maybe it would break if you could get Chuck Norris and Jesus to roundhouse kick it simutaneusly... :flipoff2:

Yup, I have had the commando for a few months now......I really like it. Everything works well and it has held up without a problem so far for me.

If they're half as tough as the G'zOne (1st gen) I've carried for 4 years, you'll be hard pressed to damage it! I bought the G'zOne on the recommendation of some active duty Jarheads It's had the stuffin's beaten out of it, dropped, drowned, & run over!

I've had mine for a week so far. just learning how to use it, but I am amazed with all the different things you can do with it. I like it so far. i suggest buying it from the net. don't call and order it. x2 on the blurry camera. sorry I couldn't help more

my wife works for a verizon retailer not the corp verizon and they can cut prices on phones to cost and have them in stock so if anyone is intersted pm me and I will get you the info you need also they can ship the phones free to you

THREAD REVIVAL!!!!!!!:D

I'm thinking about upgrading my regular phone to the Commando since its now $100 at Verizon and free online (but $30 upgrade fee, and who knows what else).

Is everyone still happy with it? My current phone is an LG Octane, and its fine for texting, but the speakers are insufficient, and its terrible for any kind of web surfing.

What about buying from Newegg/Wirefly/Walmart and making sure my plan doesn't get screwed up? They all want me to pay $10 for a data plan upgrade, but I already have a data plan...

still love mine, going on a year with zero issues. beat the crap outta it, took some pool pics and vids, dropped it face down in a gravel drive and not a single scratch on the screen. still recommend it.

Its interesting you say that about the screen. I was reading about how its coated with some mil-spec scratch resistant coating that is almost impossible to scratch, and yet in my search, I've seen a bunch of sites selling those stick on screen protectors... kinda like buying a shock resistant, waterproof case for your shock resistant, waterproof phone.

I loved mine and had zero issues. My work has since supplied us with smart phones so I have went back to the old Boulder. The screen is a little slow but I think it's because it is so thick.

It's a good choice.

Isn't the Commando 3G only? I got a Samsung Charge with an Otterbox and I put this thing through hell and it keeps working. Of course, the battery life SUCKS. 4G is where it is at though.
Do I need 4G for texting, email, and google searching? I figure if I need to do some high speed internetting, my phone isn't a good choice anyway.
