Smittybilt compressor trouble shooting

I have had this smittybilt compressor mounted under my nissan for about 4 years. It was always slow to fill up my 3 gal tank but has been very reliable considering the abuse it has seen. Last week I discovered that it will no longer turn on. It will not make a click or buzz or anything. I removed the compressor from the truck and ran the power wires directly to the battery to ensure it was getting power. If memory serves me the compressor was only about $85 so I plan on throwing it away and switching to viair, but while I have it on my table is there anything I check before I toss it away?

The only thing that you can check is the pressure switch if it has one

My Chinese air compressor that looks similar to that had a kill switch sensor that if the temps got high enough it would turn off. I had found that mine had failed after taking it all apart. See if there is anything behind the silver plate connected to the wires. I just ended up bypassing the broken sensor.

Nick, you were exactly right. I bypassed the thermal shut off switch and the compressor works. Smittybilt is sending me a new one and I don't think I trust this one to go back under my truck so I'll keep it as a spare.

Glad it worked out. When mine died it left me stranded with two tires left to air up after off-roading in the middle of no where.
