Smittybuilt xrc winch contactor questions

First time I’ve dealt with a contactor winch controller.
it’s been sitting for years.
I ran 12v battery to the lugs and the contactor unit clicks and sporadically tries to move the drum OUT. But no action IN.
Where would you start on this?
And can these be exposed? Seems like it needs a cover or something. I want to move it to another truck and then just have the plug lead out.

🤦‍♂️ I dont always think to look at youtube first but I found a few videos I'm going to dig in here soon.

I'd clean up all those connectors, lugs, and stuff before trying anything else.

I had one of the four relays fail on my Warn 10k, replaced it with a contactor (link below). When I swapped out the winch for a Badlands, I used the same contactor, not the HF control box, as it gave me a cleaner install. It's been good for 2.5 years so far.


Edit: It was about $70 bucks in early 2022....130 now.
